Come Aboard!

Topic: Come Aboard!
Text: Matthew 9: 35- 38

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” Amen.

Imagine a day in the life of Jesus; so much work for Him to do, but He never complained. Why? Because ‘the harvest is plenty yet the workers are few.’

He worked so hard during the day, rested a while, and prayed during the night. He told His disciples “I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day; the night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9: 4).

Just before His ascension, He made His final declaration “… it is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1: 8).

We took all that power, yet we went nowhere, preached to no one, lived anyhow and cared less about our lost world. So long as our children attend Sunday School and our job secures a stable income; we are good.

But turn and look around you, no, not that far; right where you are! Do you see how people need the Lord? They don’t admit it but you know they do. Each time they looked at you, it didn’t seem you were willing to share the Jesus in your heart. That is why they kept their distance.

The harvest is plenty; in every office, hospital, market, lecture room, prison, street, corner, home, and even church. People need the Lord!

They cry whenever they are alone but pretend to be as happy as you are when in public. They used to be with the Lord but drifted far off and now can’t seem to find their way back to Him.

To you, they deserve hell fire for all the “bad” that they do. To them, they fell into satan’s trap and bondage and really wish to be free in Christ again. To God, what are you waiting for? What are you doing with this much grace and power? You will give account one day of what you did with all the privileges God blessed you with.

Get off the fence, come aboard, and let us reach out and win our world for Christ! Tell everybody to tell someone that Jesus is the Only Way. Begin to pray now! Ask the Holy Spirit to nurture in you, the desire, compassion, love, boldness and sense of urgency needed, to preach to souls all around you. Heaven is counting on you.
