Attractive In Every Way

Topic: Attractive In Every Way

Text: Titus 2:10b
Then they will make the teaching about God our Saviour attractive in every way. Amen
If you asked any young man of what he desires to see in a prospective wife, he is sure to give you a list of very interesting qualities. It is undeniable that every young man would want his wife to be attractive in every way possible; physically, mentally and spiritually. The same is true for every young lady who is preparing to be ‘spotted’ by a prospective husband.
Interestingly, God sees each Christian as an ambassador and co-worker of His. And the quality of being attractive in every way is strongly required in carrying out this divine mandate of reaching the world for Him. So when Apostle Paul decided to write to Titus on instructions for the church in Crete, the former spent time elaborating how various groups of believers should live in order to make the teaching about God our Saviour attractive in every way.
He addressed four groups of believers in chapter 2 of the book of Titus; older men, older women, young men and slaves.
1. The older men are to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience. (vs 2)
2. The older women are to live in a way that honours God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the Word of God. (vs 3-5)
3. The young men are to live wisely and be examples to one another by doing good works of every kind. Everything they do should reflect the integrity and seriousness of the teachings in God’s Word. (vs 6-7)
4. Slaves (everyone under some form of authority) must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. (vs 9-10)
The Apostle points out that, when this is done, those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us. Beloved, which group do you belong to, and how attractive has your way of life made the teaching about God our Saviour?
Since we say we have received the grace of God which brings salvation to all people, we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.
Begin to pray. Surrender every weakness in your life to God Almighty. Ask Him to help you to represent Him in very attractive ways as the light and salt of this earth.
