A Far Better Option

Topic: A Far Better Option
Text: Phil. 4: 6, 7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Amen

The truth of the matter is that our lives as humans cannot be free from things that cause us to worry or be anxious. The uncertainty of tomorrow alone is enough to cripple our efforts at succeeding in life. Many of us wake up each day feeling worried instead of refreshed from sleep.

The troubles of the previous day which should have been supposedly taken away by the night’s sleep seem rekindled by the time it is morning. And many cannot keep up with this cycle. As a result, many of us have become very good at complaining and telling others about every single ‘sour’ situation we face.

But Paul, in today’s scripture, tells us that there is a far better option we could take; a far brighter angle from which we can view life; a more fulfilling way to go about our daily lives. He highlights three ways to go about this…

1. Don’t worry about anything;
2. instead, pray about everything.
3. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.

He admonishes us not to give room to worry; but to learn to talk to God first about every single thing we go through whiles thanking Him for what He has already done – in expectation of what He will do. This is a far better option because Jesus Christ our Saviour once said “…Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.”

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” (Matthew 6:27, 31- 36)

Beloved, please decide to live a more fulfilled life from today by keeping worry out of your courts – it will rob you of your joy and peace in the Lord. Get ready to experience the peace of God which passes all understanding.
