Jesus, Come To My House!

Topic: Jesus, Come To My House!

Text: Luke 8: 40- 42

40 Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed Him, for they were all expecting Him. 41 Then a man named Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue  came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with Him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed Him. AMEN

Jesus had returned from  the region of the Gerasenes where He delivered the man with the “legion” evil spirits. A whole crowd gathered to meet with varied anticipations.

Jairus however was not content meeting Jesus on the “public level”, he had a situation at home and really needed Jesus in his house; his only daughter was dying.

You see, as they made their way to Jairus’s house, the crowd nearly crushed them. So many people came around Jesus yet a few, maybe, had any desire to invite Him into their homes.

They just enjoyed following Him  everywhere with different expectations (either to receive, find fault or spectate). Whatever their reasons, they were just comfortable being in the crowd and contributing to a stampede.

Jairus wouldn’t take chances; he would not encounter Jesus at the “crowd” level. He takes it to a more “personal” level and invites Jesus into his own house. There is a real situation going on there that could use the SAVIOUR’S TOUCH.

Beloved, many of us are just like the crowd that followed Jesus. We want to know, love and relate to the Lord, but from a distance and not at any personal level. Jairus, on the other hand, had not come to join the crowd; he had come to beg Jesus into his house.

Has any of us got any situation at home that needs the SAVIOUR ‘S TOUCH? What about those of us who are tired of following Jesus like the crowd without any real encounter with Him? Could there also be some amongst us who dread that the situation at home, the workplace or school can get out of hand if the Lord does not step right in now?

Well, for all who answered yes, it is time to pray! Invite Jesus into the home of your heart and beg Him to take dominion over all that’s surging up against you. His presence will break all the chains that bind you and set you free forever!
