Topic: Your “Son” Will Live!
Text: Exodus 2: 4
His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him. Amen
Pharaoh did not like the rate at which Israel was multiplying on Egyptian soil. “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous for us. Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.” (Exo 1: 9-10).
He gave an order to the Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah, to kill every male new born baby at birth. But these midwives feared God and made the babies live.
“Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.” (Exo 2: 1- 4)
This caring mother is obviously under a lot of distress. Pharaoh gives this inhumane order and will ensure that all male babies are killed anyway. She tries so hard to protect her son. After 3 months, when she couldn’t hide him anymore, she weaves the best and safest basket for the baby and drops him at the bank of the Nile with her eldest daughter at a distance, watching to see WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO HIM.
Beloved, it happens in life sometimes that we are compelled by circumstances to give up a wonderful blessing, career opportunity, aspiration or dream just because the odds against it are so strong. We leave it to FATE and just observe what would happen to our cherished dream.
If you leave it to fate, then your faith is questionable. Why don’t you leave it to God? Yes, God! After you have done all you can to save your job, marriage, academics and dreams, but to no avail, trust that God has a wonderful plan and let Him take dominion.
He is a great God. He delights in taking over where your strength left you. For all you know, He has prepared a “Pharaoh’s daughter” to help you so your baby boy (job, marriage, hopes, dreams and aspirations) would live.
By virtue of her position as “Pharaoh’s daughter” and an Egyptian woman for that matter, she is above and immune to Pharaoh’s ungodly order that seeks to destroy your blessings. With her support, you can freely nurse your “child” and watch him grow to fulfil destiny in the palace of that same Pharaoh who wanted him dead. That is how wonderful God is!
So don’t give up that easily. Do the best you can as a “mother” to protect your “son” even in the face of the many adversities from Pharaoh, and leave the rest to God. Believe that He’s able and watch Him do the miraculous in your life. Before Pharaoh would know, He will be the one feeding, sheltering, clothing and grooming the baby boy he sought to kill.
And after God has raised your boy to be a full grown man in Pharaoh’s house, Jehovah will use him to confront Pharaoh and ensure your liberty from his tyranny. Meditate on this word and begin to pray now. Commit all which concerns you to God. Believe His word, your “son” will live.
