Topic: Your Search Will Be Rewarded
Text: Proverbs 11: 27
27 Whoever seeks good finds favour, but evil comes to one who searches for it. Amen
It is yet another day and the wisest man that ever lived is advising us from the passage above. His message today is not so different from the “cause-and-effect” principle we are already used to.
You see, life is full of choices; some are good and others bad. The motive with which we approach life coupled with the corresponding actions we take in our attempt to achieve our goals, almost always determine what we get from life.
If you set your heart to find the good of every situation, God will help you and you will obtain goodwill and favour. On the contrary, if you make evil your most sought after treasure, then evil is what you will get.
The Apostle Paul warned the people of Galatians about this. He said, “do not to be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap (Gal 6:7).
Let us maintain a positive attitude towards life henceforth. Seek the good of all situations and don’t give up when you never seem to have the desired results. Sometimes even, the good you seek may be frustrated by all the evil that surround you but don’t despair. Good will always bring favour in the long run.
But if you desire evil and look out for places you can find and do evil, then evil will rather come to you with its deadly corresponding punishments reserved for those who yearn to have a taste of its venom.
Therefore incline your mind and heart to whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy (Phil 4: 8). You already know that, “everything is permissible”–but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”–but not everything is constructive (2 Corinth 10: 23).
Begin to pray then, ask for a heart that pursues good and righteousness. For in that life, favour and goodwill are inevitable.
