Topic: Your Prayer Account
Text: Daniel 6:10
But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. Amen
It very easy these days to miss out on one of the most important necessities of life: PRAYER. We often miss it to a busy schedule that begins from rising up to going back to bed.
At the beep of the clock, we usually set ourselves into motion lacking that clear sense of direction which often accompanies those who make time to reflect, meditate, pray and plan into the day before stepping out.
We completely forget that Someone Supreme woke us up and we need to be thankful for His mercies which sustain us. We can even set off and be on our way without asking God to bless our going out and our coming in. No wonder then, that we seem to be doing soo much and yet achieve very little.
Have you ever considered having a prayer savings account? A special account into which you will make deposit every morning when you wake up? You remember how the bible describes Daniel as one who prayed continuously. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done. Even the king’s decree couldn’t stop him.
As a matter of fact, when he was thrown into the lion’s den for praying, the bible says the mouths of the lions were shut. Daniel just did an instant withdrawal from his prayer savings account.
“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55: 6). If your prayer account is empty, your withdrawal slip to solving problems may bounce!
Open a prayer savings account today for your future dreams and aspirations. With each prayer said in the morning and at bedtime, you may just be depositing into that precious account till like Cornelius, your prayers become a memorial offering before God. (Acts 10: 4).
As we begin a new month today, the last but one in the year (for that matter), generously deposit into your prayer account and encourage all who are close to you to do same. Remember we are to “Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephe 6:18a). We are also supposed to “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thes 5: 17). What are you waiting for then? Begin to pray now. Any day can be the day of trouble. You may never know when you will need to make a withdrawal.
