You Can’t Give What You Do Not Have!

Topic: You Can’t Give What You Do Not Have!

Text: Acts 3:6
Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.
In emergency protocol pamphlets on an airplanes, instructions are given on what to do in case the plane is going to crash. Parents with children are always told to put their oxygen mask on first and make sure they are okay before they take care of their children’s mask.
This is simply because, parents can only save their children if they have life themselves. One day, Peter and John were going up to the temple to pray. A man who was lame from birth was always carried to the temple gate called BEAUTIFUL. He was put there every day to beg for alms from those going into the temple courts.
When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. But Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, BUT WHAT I DO HAVE I GIVE YOU. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” So, taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong and began to walk.
The reality is that, we desire to help the people we see in need, but the difficulty is in our limited resources, like money. However, Jesus Christ is greater than our limited resources. It is He who lives in us both to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose (Phil 2: 13). When we have Him within, then we are ready to share Him to the world.
We can not love others as Christ loves us if we have not experienced His love. We can never encourage anyone enough if we can’t encourage ourselves in faith. We can’t preach Christ enough if we do not know Him nor have fellowship enough with Him. For we can only speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen (John 3: 11).
So, as another week in a new month begins today, pray that you may encounter God more intimately than you ever did. Just to know Him for all that He is and the power of His resurrection. It is only then that you can share Him to those who also need Him.
Sometimes they don’t even know it is the Lord they need, but from your encounter with Jesus, you know that they do more than anything else that glitters. Give them Jesus! The very One who lives within and works from your heart to change the lives that you encounter, for good!
