Topic: Yet Praise Him!
Text: Psalm 42: 5
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Saviour and my God. Amen
We are privileged by grace to wake up to another beautiful day the Lord has made. However, not everyone is rejoicing about this. Some have had their minds troubled throughout the night, with their hearts beating faster than usual as morning approached.
They are not against the fact that God has given a gracious opportunity for us to see another day; they are just troubled by all the trials and afflictions they’re going through right now. By sunrise, they will have to face all these challenges again.
When the Psalmist saw himself in the midst of adversity, he made the best decision to run to God. He said, “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, ‘Where is your God?’” (Psalm 42: 2-3).
While he pondered over where to meet God and spoke to himself of how much pain he was going through, he remembered something so profound.
He said, “These things I remember as I pour out my soul; how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng.” (Ps 42: 4).
Then he got encouraged and said, “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Saviour and my God.”
Beloved, all may not be perfect as we speak, YET PRAISE HIM! Sorrow and pain may have been your companion all night long, YET PRAISE HIM!! HIS PRAISE MUST CONTINUALLY BE IN YOUR MOUTH!!!
The enemy cannot stand your praise. It magnifies your God till all His greatness and power is magnified in you. Jericho had a wall so high, tall, wide and strong. But praise reduced it all to a rubble.
Rise up from the ashes and begin to praise God for His goodness, even the fact that you are alive to see such a glorious day. This praise will scatter the camp of the enemy.
Now get ready; let us go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise. He inhabits the praise of His people as One who is glorious in holiness and FEARFUL IN PRAISE. THE GOD WHO DOES WONDERS. See you at church; and expect a touch from God when you have come before Him!
