Topic: Yes, We Can!
Text: 2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Amen
To live a holy and upright life in this age appears to be a neck-breaking and energy-sapping demand. To some people, it is that adventurous task that can never be fulfilled.
Godliness has many definitions now. Definitions that suit people per the kind of lifestyle they want to live. “It is impossible to please God in all we do, and even God understands”, they retort.
But thank God for His Word! Glory be to His name because His divine power in us has given us everything we need for a godly life. How? It’s through our knowledge of him who called us by His own glory and goodness. So what then? To live a godly life is very possible to those who rely on the Holy Spirit for strength.
Apostle Paul said, “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20). Therefore “…if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you” (Rom. 8: 11).
This implies that regardless of all the decay and decline in holiness around us, we must choose to live holy lives by the power of God at work within us. The fact that everyone around us does what is wrong does not make wrong right. Our standard is Jesus!
Child of God, challenge yourself to a godly life.
That kind of life that brings glory to God. And as you do this, just stay calm and watch God pour out His glory upon your life. He will satisfy your life with many good things.
Remember, the calling of God for us is to live holy lives. Begin to pray now.
