Topic: Who’s Got Your Back?
Text: 2 Timothy 1:12
Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and I’m convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day. Amen
There is an unmistakable sense of peace and security when you know that a valuable item of yours is in the care of a trustworthy person. By that, you know that come what may, you need not fret — your asset is safe!
That is exactly how Potiphar felt when he realized that, the young man he had purchased from the Ishmaelite traders was exceptional. “Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing — except what kind of food to eat.” (Genesis 39:3 & 6)
Having seen the hand of God at work so many times in diverse situations, the Apostle Paul could confidently say to Timothy that, “I know whom I have believed, and I’m convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.”
Beloved, whom have you believed? Do you know how able He is? Do you know what He is capable of doing? If so, it is never out of place to take time to entrust your plans and your ways into His care. If He gave Joseph success in everything he did, He can give you success in everything you entrust into His care.
Do not live life unguarded and unsupported! Spend time committing every aspect of your life into the able hands of the Almighty in prayer! It really matters who’s got your back.
Remember that you are not to be “anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:6&7).
Therefore, “commit your ways to the Lord; trust in Him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun” (Ps 37: 5-6). Begin to pray now!
