Today’s Devotion
Topic: Who Is This God? (Part 6)
Text: Job 21: 22
“Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since He judges even the highest?” Amen.
Our search into the nature of God will today focus on Him as our: PROFESSOR / TEACHER.
Before anyone can teach and effectively impart knowledge, he/she must first know. The question then becomes, “What does God know to teach?; How much of what He knows does He know?; and finally, What limits are there to what He knows?”
Beloved, God is not called Omniscient for nothing. He knows all things and everything into all of its depth, width and height. He said to Isaiah:
“Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.” (Isaiah 46: 9- 10).
Therefore Isaiah wrote of Him saying, “Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD, or instruct the LORD as His counsellor? Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten Him, and who taught Him the right way? Who was it that taught Him knowledge, or showed Him the path of understanding?” (Isaiah 40:13-14).
The Psalmist also wrote, saying, “O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.” (Psalm , 139: 1-4).
Beloved, “Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since He judges even the highest?” (Job 21:22). “He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit” (Psalm 147:4-5). “Do you know how the clouds hang poised, those wonders of Him who has perfect knowledge?” (Job 37:16)
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out!” (Romans 11:33) “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13). “He knows everything” (1 John 3:20). It is from Him all knowledge and wisdom flow.
When Moses complained after his commission to Egypt that he was not eloquent to face Pharaoh, the Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and WILL TEACH YOU WHAT TO SAY.” (Exodus 4: 11- 12).
Brethren, did the Lord not do even more? Teaching Moses so well, even about events that took place before he (Moses) was born; so that he could write the first five books of the Bible, starting from the very beginning when God created heaven and earth. So you see, it is the Lord who teaches man knowledge (Psalm 94: 10).
He says to you today, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” (Ps 32: 8) “Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go.” (Is 48: 17) “All your sons will be taught of the LORD; And the well-being of your sons will be great.” (Is 54: 13).
What else could we be waiting for then?Begin to pray, Child of God. Ask the Lord to instruct you in all wisdom and knowledge; especially regarding your academics, career, and life’s decisions.
Ask the Holy Spirit into everything you do and say. For Jesus has said that, “…the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14: 26).
Those who are taught by Him will never fail any of life’s many tests. He is the greatest professor of all time.
Tomorrow we will discuss God as a Judge.
