Topic: Who Is This God? (Part 5b)
Text: Exodus 15: 26
He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” Amen
Yesterday we discussed our God as the great physician. Today our focus is to understand how divine healing comes about and why, we miss it sometimes.

HOW DOES THIS GOD-KIND OF HEALING TAKE PLACE?
Very simple! Jehovah God, the Great Physician, can heal anyone of any affliction,be it physical, mental, emotional, or financial. This, He does through His Word or the touch of His hand (either directly or through nature).
I. HEALING BY THE WORD:
a) God made all things by His Word. Without the Word nothing was made that is made. To put it literally, the Word is the creating force (mechanism, ‘substance’, process or medium) by which and through whom we were made. So the application of it, backed by faith, produces healing and restoration for any part of our bodies that needs repair.
b) “The Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4: 12). It is able to convict us of sin and bring us to repentance. Now, since sin makes us susceptible to attacks, the restoration of the soul to righteousness automatically produces deliverance and healing.
c) The Word of God is powerful. It is both fire and hammer. Casting out unclean spirits and diseases and setting the children of God free.
d) Finally, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. He triumphed over all the works of the enemy and is therefore given a name which is above every name. So that at the mention of the NAME, JESUS, EVERY KNEE MUST BOW, INCLUDING SICKNESSES AND DISEASE.
Moreover, the gift of His son Jesus, is also to restore us back to God’s original plan for our lives; where sickness has no place in our bodies. Those who believe in Him are not to perish, but have everlasting life.
The God-kind of life that is free from disease and sickness. That we might prosper and be in good health even as our souls prosper.
ii. HEALING BY TOUCH EITHER DIRECTLY OR THROUGH NATURE:
a) DIRECT TOUCH:_* The hands of Jesus are healing hands. By divine providence, just one touch to the soul, body or circumstance, makes one completely whole.
b) TOUCH THROUGH NATURE:
Also, because all things created were made possible by the Word (and breath: in the case of man) of God, He is able to heal us by touch using natural substances like water, clay, oil, plants etc. He is also able to use humans who have acquired knowledge from the things He has made to heal. These include medical workers. But the many more who have come to believe in His name, He gives the gift of Healing through the Holy Spirit for the same purpose. They apply the Word through faith and pray healing for all who require HIS TOUCH; and they are healed.
Beloved, the above sums up in one sentence: Our God is the Healer. He is the healing you need in your body, situation and finances.
Begin to pray now. Firstly, bless this God who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases. Now ask that just as He’s sent His Word to you, He will by this Word heal you of every disease and pain.
Jesus has given us the power in Matthew 10:8, to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out devils. He said ‘freely you have received, freely give’.
Therefore intercede for all who are sick too. Ask for divine healing and restoration. Pray with the hymn “The Great Physician Now Is Near…” FOR BY HIS STRIPES, WE ARE HEALED!
