Who Is This God? (Part 1)

Topic: Who Is This God? (Part 1)
Text: Psalm 146: 6.

He is the Maker of Heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them — He remains faithful forever. Amen.

Introduction: We begin a series dubbed “Who is this God?” The aim is to uncover the several “characteristics and specialties” of our God, which we easily overlook either by ignorance or familiarity.

You see, when professionals have no space for God in their lives, and scientists will use their research to dispute His existence, they really have no idea what they are talking about.

Obviously deluded by the limited expertise, information and experience they have acquired over the years, they fail to see that God is the senior-most authority in that specialised field they brag about. Now Let’s set the ball rolling by discussing God as a:
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER AND ARCHITECT.

In Genesis 1: 1, we are told that God created the heavens and the earth. Now this sounds too simple to catch our attention, especially when we know they were created AT HIS WORD. What we fail to appreciate, however, is how perfect the symmetry, lines and design are in keeping everything in their right proportion and balance.

Here is the evidence: when God decided to respond to those who fail to see Him as the engineer and mastermind behind our magnificent universe, this is what He had to say:

“Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone?” (Job 38: 2- 6).

Now you know that a lot of calculations, measurements and mathematics have gone on before we could receive the earth as we see it today.

Observe the specifications He gave Noah for the ark. Don’t forget that this was long ago when civilization was still at its basic level; before even Abraham was born. He (God) instructed Noah saying: “Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.

This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks” (Gen 6: 14- 16).

Did you take note of the specifications; even with the type of building material to be used for the ark?

Why don’t we come to that understanding once and for all that He created all things with a plan; just as every builder conceptualizes before implementation. That is the only explanation why every natural thing or element runs its purpose and function into another that should benefit and derive its own purpose from the previous, only to run itself into another element that requires its purpose as benefit too. The cycle continues.

So beloved, stop worrying that your life is going to collapse and be dismantled any moment from now, especially if you are in Christ; FOR THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! He understood structural engineering before He made you. He is the pillar that holds your life and the beams that should connect to form the whole. He calculated well before blessing you with the height and appearance you come with.

It was not a mistake: YOU ARE NOT A MISTAKE! Your marriage and career are set on solid grounds with divine pillars supporting their stands. For so long as God remains their foundation, no storm can bring them down.

Begin to pray about all these. Thank God for holding it all together. Ask for grace to remain in Him as all other grounds are but ‘sinking sand’. Be assured you are so secured, both now and always.
