Topic: Who Did That? (Self Assessment)
Text: Luke 8: 40, 43- 48
40 On the other side of the lake the crowds welcomed Jesus, because they had been waiting for him. 43 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure.
44 Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped. 45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. Everyone denied it, and Peter said, “Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you.
”46 But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.” 47 When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed. Amen.
QUESTIONS
i. At the other side of the lake, a whole crowd awaited Jesus (verse 40). Why do you think crowd was waiting?
ii. According to verse 43, one woman had suffered for twelve years without a cure, yet she was still more than determined to receive her healing from Christ even in the midst of the crowd. What are some lessons we can pick from her?
iii. What does the crowd represent? Should a believer be too concerned or limited by the crowd?
iv. Even in the midst of a crowd that was literally drowning Him, Jesus still noticed that someone had touched Him in a special way. Christians always pray for the Lord’s touch, hence, what are some of the ways a believer can deliberately touch the Lord to receive from Him?
v. Peter’s reply to Jesus – “Master this crowd is pressing up against you” implies that many had physical contact with Jesus at that time. Can we then say that, we may be physically hanging around Jesus but may not necessarily touching Him to receive from Him? In what ways is this possible?
