We Do Not Just Obey To Be Blessed, We Abide!

Topic: We Do Not Just Obey To Be Blessed, We Abide!
Text: Deuteronomy 7: 12-15

12 If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the LORD your God will keep His covenant of love with you, as He swore to your ancestors. 13 He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land —your grain, new wine and olive oil —the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land He swore to your ancestors to give you.

14 You will be blessed more than any other people; none of your men or women will be childless, nor will any of your livestock be without young. 15 The LORD will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but He will inflict them on all who hate you. AMEN

We crave blessings with passion because we all could use some divine help and assistance. Life is proving too hard by the day, and this may be getting more perilous according to the interpretation scripture. Evil lovers are their worst too; seeking to steal, kill and destroy the already worn believer, battered by the storms of life.

Yet there’s no blessing anywhere other than in the bosom of Our Father In Heaven. All the good we desire and crave for are found only in Him. Revelations 7: 12 declares; “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

Precious One, can you see that blessing, glory, wisdom and even the power that politicians fight for, belongs to God; not just now but forever? GOOD!

During the time of the Exodus, God wrapped His blessings around the laws He gave the Israelites through Moses and made adherence of the law a prerequisite to being blessed. In our new covenant dispensation, Jesus fulfills the law and has become THE WORD OF GOD IN ACTION. He has become the epitome of the covenant of Love between us and the Father now.

Obeying the word of God therefore must be done through love with the help of the Holy Spirit. We do not just obey because we are commanded to, but we obey because we love Christ and choose to walk with, learn of and become like Him.

Jesus explains it best in John 14: 15. He says, “If you love me, keep my commandments”. He also says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7).

So what are we waiting for? Where are all those who want to be blessed? Those who want God to love, bless and increase them; those who want the blessing of the fruit of the womb, crop, land and even livestock; those who want to be free of the horrible diseases that inflicted Egypt?

Simply believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and choose to abide in His Word. Make His Word your delight and desire. Don’t just obey them, live them! As His word abides in you, it takes root and you begin to bear the fruit of the spirit. Behold! A wonderful change will come all over you.

Suddenly you are translated from darkness to light and the curse of this life will give way to unspeakable blessings. Many will see and call you blessed and highly favoured.

Meditate on this word and begin to pray. Pray with the hymn TRUST & OBEY. Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen your every weakness so that you may abide in His word. That way, whatever good we ask in His name is granted to us. This is more than blessings; this is Zoe (the God kind of Life). ABIDE AND BE BLESSED.
