Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Amen
There was once a wildlife documentary on lions and buffalos. In that film, the herd comprised of males & females, young & old, strong & feeble and aggressive & sober buffalos. They formed one large, invincible extended family that always moved together.
Close by were hungry lions. Their targets were those buffalos that had strayed away from the group and those that were weak or hurt. Their best target however was the very young and inexperienced baffalos.
The documentary definitely had lessons for all Christians.
You see, the devil never wanted us to be born again but some how, grace found us and there was nothing he could do. Now, he is focusing his energy on keeping christians from growing in the faith. He distracts many from praying and reading the word. That way, there won’t be much of a difference between a christian and an unbeliever, thus getting easy prey.
For those that have been able to grow in the faith, he has found ways of throwing misfortunes and betrayals at them, so hard that they have been hurt and unable to move on with the walk with Christ.
Many have vowed not to go to church again because a fellow christian who should have known better offended them. Watch out! The devil is at work. He is moving you out of the protected group into isolation.
God is asking us to be alert and watch out for new tricks of the enemy. Protect your salvation with trembling & fear, for that is your inheritance while on earth. Once you loose it, you have become the best prey.
