Topic: TRUST IN GOD AND GO ON
TEXT: 1 Chron 5: 18- 20, 22
18 The Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh had 44,760 men ready for military service — able-bodied men who could handle shield and sword, who could use a bow, and who were trained for battle. 19 They waged war against the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish and Nodab. 20 They were helped in fighting them, and God handed the Hagrites and all their allies over to them, because they cried out to Him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in Him. 22 and many others fell slain, because the battle was God’s. And they occupied the land until the exile. Amen
We usually start our days with so many aspirations and much enthusiasm. While some are burdened with exams to write, others look forward to meeting some targets at work. Payment of fees, bills and other commitments are not left out in our struggle to meet the demands of life, and all these can weigh heavily on the mind.
But we, like the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, are assured of victory in all that we set out to do if we will cry out to God and trust in Him. Life becomes difficult for only those who do not know their God. Our strength is renewed daily by God so that we can meet the many demands of life that knock on our doors every day.
We should therefore never be intimidated by anything evil, nor get infested by the syndrome called ‘fear of failure’. With God on our side, no mountain shall be too high for us to climb; neither any valley too low. He is our shield and glory; the lifter up of our heads.
Begin to pray now as you commit your ways to God, trust in Him and rise to your task. Remember, although the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh had 44,760 men ready for military service — able-bodied men who could handle shield and sword, who could use a bow, and who were trained for battle, they did not rely on their skills, strength, weapons or experience; they prayed to God for help and they trusted Him to be able. That was the secret to their victory.
The same will be your portion if your prayer for help is backed by faith. The Lord is ever willing to help if you can trust Him as able. The battles you face are His, not yours. That is why He promises to be with you like a mighty warrior; so that the adversary stumbles and does not prevail (Jer 20: 11a). Call on the Lord now and trust Him; offer yourself for every good work and by the close of day, a beautiful song will be ringing in your heart and soul: ‘GOD HAS DONE IT AGAIN’!
