Today’s Devotion
Topic: True Friends Of God
Text: Psalm 25: 14
The Lord confides in those who fear Him; He makes his covenant known to them. AMEN
Abraham walked wholeheartedly with the Lord and was considered a friend of God. He was privileged to have had firsthand information about God’s intention to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because he was a friend of God. He was even allowed to make intercessions on behalf of the righteous that lived in the land, that way, his nephew Lot and his family were spared.
God visited Abraham from time to time and made His covenant known to Him. By the unique relationship they shared, God even changed His name (Abram) and gave him another (Abraham) that truly reflected the new covenant established between them.
It is so possible then that we (mortals) become very good friends with the Lord. Psalm 25: 14a says “the Lord confides in those who fear him…” the same way we confide in our friends and reveal the secrets of our heart.
Like Abraham, God can discuss with you the intentions of His heart and allow you to make intercessions.
In this New Testament dispensation, one is said to be a friend of God when he/ she has constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
By prayer, Bible study, obedience and absolute reverence to God, this FELLOWSHIP is deepened such that you will truly understand the things of God. Then the Lord will reveal His plan concerning your life, family, nation and even church to you.
Desire more than anything this morning to be considered a friend of God. Pray that the Holy Spirit becomes your greatest companion in life. He is the dependable that never puts to shame. He never cheats, lies or betrays His friends. He’s the best friend you can ever have.
