Topic: Treat Them Well, They’re A Blessing To You!
Text: Genesis 30: 25- 27
25 After Rachel gave birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “Send me on my way so I can go back to my own homeland. 26 Give me my wives and children, for whom I have served you, and I will be on my way. You know how much work I’ve done for you.”
27 But Laban said to him, “If I have found favour in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the Lord has blessed me because of you.” Amen
Jacob had been living and working for his uncle Laban all these years. Altogether, he worked about 20 years. Now, after the first 14 years (which was to serve as bride price for Laban’s two daughters), Jacob asked Laban to send him away so that he may be on his own. Laban refused! He had learned by divination that God had blessed him (Laban) because of Jacob.
Beloved, by virtue of certain special covenants or faithful relationship some people have with the Lord, they are blessed. THEY MAY NOT HAVE A LOT OF WEALTH OR PEDIGREE LIKE YOU DO. THEY MAY EVEN SERVE AS SERVANTS OR SUBORDINATES IN YOUR HOUSE OR OFFICE RESPECTIVELY, BUT ONE THING THAT CANNOT BE MISTAKEN IS THE FACT THAT THEY CARRY THE BLESSING OF GOD.
We must be careful to treat everybody right, especially those whom the Lord has given us charge over. They may not look or act special at all, but surely they have a relationship with God that attracts His blessing wherever they may be. If they work with you, you will succeed. If they live with you, you are covered and blessed. They are a blessing!
Instead of Laban treating Jacob well, He really tried several ways to cheat him. He changed his wages 10 times in the last 6 years of Jacob’s service to him. The idea was to make sure Jacob never had enough to be able to leave him. Now, that was selfish and unfair! EVEN SO, JACOB REMAINED BLESSED.
Potiphar on the other hand entrusted everything into the hands of Joseph and treated him well until his wife attempted to trap the boy and later framed him up. Even in prison, Joseph was blessed too. (Genesis 39). Have you ever wondered what Potiphar might have said to himself the day Joseph was made Prime Minister?
Meditate on today’s word. Don’t you think you treat people too harshly without even considering why God brought them into your life? Begin to pray now. Ask for patience and tolerance. Ask for skills to handle all people with great care. They are God’s blessing to you. TREAT THEM WELL! See you at church.
And let’s always be conscious of this: our entirety belong to God. He’s the source of whatever we have and who we are. Click: https://youtu.be/uNu2bCpVAwI
