Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you throw a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” Amen
Society has become business and profit oriented. No one wants to do anything for free. Strategic Planning is the order of the day. Social ceremonies, including funerals, are planned with special emphasis on inviting the afluent in society.
This is always done with the hope that these special guests will either give generously (more or less to pay for what we offered them) or place us on their special list of honour anytime they too organise an event.
Unfortunately, this kind of generousity repays itself and doesn’t strike a memorial before God.
Rather the next time you want to do good, think about the under priveldged in society. Those who obviously can not repay you even if they wanted to.
It may not make business sense, but this is the best strategic plan ever, ‘cos the Lord God remains your eternal rewarder. And guess what, He rewards better than any man ever could.
