Topic: Away From Companions
Text: 2 Kings 9: 1-3
The prophet Elisha summoned a man from the company of the prophets and said to him, “Tuck your cloak into your belt, take this flask of oil with you and go to Ramoth Gilead. When you get there, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi. Go to him, get him away from his companions and take him into an inner room. Then take the flask and pour the oil on his head and declare, “This is what the Lord says: I anoint you King over Israel.’ Then open the door and run; don’t delay. Amen
The many of us that desire God’s anointing must also learn to spend time alone with God in His inner chamber.
Jehu needed to be seperated from His friends and taken to an inner room before he was anointed king. Such is the way of great leaders!
Abraham had to seperate from his kindred; David was seperated to be prepared in the fields; Joseph was seperated from family and later imprisoned; Jesus & John the baptist tarried alone in the wilderness; Paul after his conversion, was prepared in Arabia before joining the other apostles (Gal 1: 15-17).
In the inner chambers of the Lord, we get to see Him as He is, know Him for ourselves and hear His voice clearly. Secondly, His presence changes us to like him and then equips us for His work also.
Therefore, come out from amongs them and be ye seperated of your comfort zone (those familiar things you love) and learn to spend time with God alone. He will anoint you for each asignment life presents to you.
It is this anointing that makes the distinction between ordinary men and GREAT men. (Y-Outreach Network)
