Today’s Devotion
Topic: To Willingly Be In His Will!
Text: Psalm 119:47
For I delight in your commands because I love them. Amen.
We have always prayed “thy will be done” and we don’t even mean it. We sing “take my life and let it be”, yet we still hold back.
The above is so because we don’t often agree with what we receive from the Holy Ghost as the “will of God”. We either feel it’s too challenging or contrary to our expectations.
When we will obey the Lord’s commands, we do so dutifully and not out of love.
The truth however remains that the best place anyone can be is in the will of God. It’s safer and humbling to be where God desires you to be and to do just what He wants you to do.
When a terrible storm hits your boat, you don’t shiver because you know you are in the Will of God.
All we need is a “YES” to the plan and commands of God. For if He allowed the storm in, then He knows it’s good and that you can overcome.
Please take note that the expectation is not just to obey the commands of God but to also do so in love.
Remember, those who delight in the Lord, always receive the desires of their hearts (Ps 37: 4).
Begin to pray right now. Ask God to bless you with the strength to do His will and the grace to obey His Word delightfully but not dutifully.
“For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” (2 Chron 16:9a- NASB).
