Topic: To Obey His Word Is To Do The Master’s Will!
Text: Psalm 40: 8
8 I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” Amen
To know the will of God is to know the word of God. The latter reveals the details of the former.
All who get to know the word of God automatically desire His will because they come to appreciate from the examples revealed in the holy scriptures that, being in God’s will is the best place for man to be. This makes it easy for them to yield and have a “yes Lord” in their spirit whenever He calls.
David said “thy word have I hidden in my heart that i might not sin against you” (Ps 119: 11). Not sinning against God is being in His will, and it begins with knowing what the Word of God is and living by it.
Why don’t you make His word a lamp unto your feet and light unto your path? That way you will not struggle with the thought of whether you’re abiding in God’s will or not.
His will concerning your life, health, marriage, career and ministry is in His word. Those who will capture the details of His will in their spirits are those who have the law/ word of God implanted within their hearts.
They don’t struggle to defy logic in obedience to God’s will because they know from His word that He’s Faithful and True. They may suffer ridicule and shame for the sake of the gospel but from the scriptures, they know that a glorious crown of life awaits all who are persecuted for righteousness sake; so they smile.
Guided by His Spirit through the word, we should never miss the will of God in any matter. Begin to pray now. Submit your will to that of Christ. Ask that there may be a hunger for God’s word in your life, so that you don’t remain enstranged to the voice of God when He speaks to you.
For to serve this present age is our calling to fulfill. So may it all our powers engage to do the Master’s will! (Charles Wesley).
