To Hold Hands Or To Lay Hands!

Topic: To Hold Hands Or To Lay Hands!
Text: 1 Timothy 5: 22

22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure. Amen

Apostle Paul had taught young Timothy so many things that pertained to ministry. In his first letter to Timothy, Paul warned him not to be in a haste to lay hands. A very clear indication that the temptation to do so will arise.

These days, there are too many “laying of hands”. Most believers are in a haste to “lay hands” because they feel spiritually mandated to empower others. Young Pastors, Church and youth leaders quickly lay hands on everyone that comes their way. That must not be the case.

“Laying of hands” must first be directed by God, and secondly, must be done by one who is mandated by God to be a spiritual authority over the other. It is normally done to impart or transfer anointing from the superior minister to his subordinate.

In Numbers 27:18-22, “… the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hands on him. Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission him in their presence. Give him some of your authority, so the whole Israelite community will obey him.”

Beloved, most of the time we “laid hands” while we should have rather “held hands”. When believers hold hands and pray, they join forces to invoke the power of God and share in the cooperate anointing. Everyone benefits mutually. In “laying hands”, there’s transfer from one to the other.

You see, where we are not mandated by God or do not serve as a spiritual authority over those we intend to “lay hands on” and we do, we can be overwhelmed and attacked by the negative spiritual forces that dominate their lives or get spiritually drained because we do not have that level of anointing to deal with such situations.

Beloved don’t be quick to “lay hands”, do not share in the sins of others. Until God instructs us to “lay hands”, let us rather hold hands in agreement and pray. Begin to pray now, pray for the church! Click: https://youtu.be/ljnAhavb09c
