Today’s Devotion
Topic: To God Be The Glory!
Text: Psalm 115: 1
Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. Amen
How do we even come close to claiming glory for ourselves; we don’t even merit the grace that allows heaven to show us the least favour.
When we attempted righteousness, it was like a filthy rag compared to the ‘shekinah’ glory that characterises the nature of our God.
You know sin made us fall short of the glory of God. Our wages should have been death and misery. But the love of God, however, is stronger than death (Song of Songs 8: 6) and better than life (Ps 63: 3). His steadfast love never ceases and His mercies never come to an end. His faithfulness is great and renewed every morning (Lam 3: 22- 23).
From the much love He has for us, Jesus had to die in our place to reconcile us with God. The precious blood He shed still atones for our sins, and His grace is sufficient for our every weakness. This is why the weak can say “I am strong” and the poor; “I am rich”.
Apostle Paul puts it best when he says “…by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them–yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” (1 Cor 15: 10)
Beloved, rise up and begin to pray. Worship with the hymn “TO GOD BE THE GLORY”. Simply come out of yourself and thank God for the great love He has shown you by giving His only begotten Son to die in your place. He who yielded His life an atonement for sin and opened the life gate that all may go in. Bless the Lord for this wonderful gift of salvation which comes to you free of charge.
Now ask the Holy Spirit to help you never take this amazing grace for granted, but to help you work harder than all- yet not you, but the grace of God that is upon your life. In our lives, God must be glorified! See you at church.
