Topic: This Will Cost You! (Part 1)
Text: 1 Sam 27: 1-2

“Then David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the Philistines….. So David arose and went over, he and the six hundred men who were with him, to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.” Amen.

Introduction: We begin a two-day series on the topic above. We will be looking at an account of David, how he decided to pitch camp with the enemy and the consequences of his actions. At the end of this series, we trust God to give us reveal to us the much we tend to gain when we rather stick with Him, than compromise and settle in the enemy’s territory.

The complications of life can be so over bearing that we sometimes make very costly compromises that leave negative imprints on our destinies. A certain man in the Bible nearly fell victim to such an unfortunate situation. David was young when he was anointed to be the next king of Israel.

But the incumbent was really tormenting his life. So he thought to himself “One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines….. Then David and 600men with him left and went over to Achish son of Maok, king of Gath.”

In 1 Sam 28: 1- 2, the Bible declares that “In those days the Philistines gathered their forces to fight against Israel. Achish said to David, “You must understand that you and your men will accompany me in the army”. David said, “Then you will see for yourself what your servant can do.” Achish replied, “Very well, i will make you my bodyguard for life.”

David took 3 compromising decisions that we should all beware of. We will be delving deeper into these areas tomorrow and see what the Holy Spirit will be teaching us about them. Please don’t miss out on this special teaching for anything. Make a date.
