Topic: These Conspirators Will Fail!
Text: Daniel 6: 17
17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. Amen
A conspiracy had gone on against Daniel. He was too excellent and flawless for comfort. By dint of hard work and honesty, the king loved and favoured him above all his nobles. He was not even Persian for crying out loud. He had to go!
All strategies to bring him down proved futile – He was a righteous man. The conspirators realised he had no reservation when it comes to serving his God. They persuaded the king to decree against worshiping any other god other than himself, for 30 days. Daniel continued to pray 3 times each day after the decree, as was his custom before the decree. Charged with rebellion, he was sentenced to death in a lion’s den.
Sometimes conspiracies go forth against us just because we are blessed and distinguished. Out of envy and hatred, some wicked men can go every extent just to destroy you.
In Daniel’s case, arresting and sentencing him was not enough, they still went ahead to put down measures that ensured his permanent destruction. BUT GOD; HE WOULDN’T LET THAT HAPPEN!
He shut the mouth of those hungry lions yet gave the king no sleep at all that whole night. He was tormented and restless. You see, whether consciously or unconsciously, he was still responsible for Daniel’s fate. The decree was his and the signet ring to seal the stone too. How was it that he, a mortal, bought the idea to be worshiped in the first place?
We suffer many attacks and challenges because those who “hate us” succeed in getting those who “want to be worshiped” to persecute us. But we declare that whatever conspiracies gone forth against us shall not stand in Jesus’ name! As a matter of fact, all who have done everything both spiritually and physically to ensure the worse for us should watch out for our God. Jeremiah puts it better, He says:
“I hear many whispering, “Terror on every side! Report him! Let’s report him!” All my friends are waiting for me to slip, saying, “Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him. But the LORD is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten.” (Jeremiah 20: 10-11).
Begin to pray against any conspiracy purported to destroy you. Ask God to intervene in your situation and vindicate you.
