Topic: The Road To Kingship
Text: 1 Samuel 21: 10- 15
10 That day David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of Gath. 11 But the servants of Achish said to him, “Isn’t this David, the king of the land? Isn’t he the one they sing about in their dances: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands’?” 12 David took these words to heart and was very much afraid of Achish king of Gath.
13 So he pretended to be insane in their presence; and while he was in their hands he acted like a madman, making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard. 14 Achish said to his servants, “Look at the man! He is insane! Why bring him to me? 15 Am I so short of madmen that you have to bring this fellow here to carry on like this in front of me? Must this man come into my house?” Amen!
The journey from being a shepherd boy to becoming king of Israel was not an easy one for David. In fact! from the day Samuel anointed him king, everything became very complicated for David.
The anointing on his life made him excel in all he did but at the same time gave him a lot of complications and enemies (including his own adopted father and mentor, SAUL). At a point, he had to apply the wisdom of God by acting mad so that his life would be spared.
So don’t you worry that things seem complicated in your life; especially if you are walking wholeheartedly with the Lord. Sometimes His anointing upon your life requires that you go through FIRE so that He can refine and bring the best out of you for His glory.
David had to go through tough and uncomfortable situations that Saul never had, so that He will be a better king than Saul.
Henceforth, each time you seem unable to unravel the mystery of your own life, know that it is time to hand the pieces of the puzzle to Jesus. He will aid you through those storms and make your story an inspiration to many! Begin To Pray Now!
