The Purpose Driven Life

Today’s Devotion
Topic: The Purpose Driven Life
Text: Proverbs 21: 5

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Amen

The book of proverbs has many texts that encourage diligence and highlights its benefits. It exposes laziness as the cause of hunger and poverty and condemns all who settle for it. In the text above, Solomon teaches that planning, diligent implementation and patience are very essential keys to a living profitable life.

Planning: it is the process of setting a goal, developing strategies and outlining tasks and schedules to achieve the set goals. This shows that a successful life begins with goal setting. Hebrews 12:2 says; “and Jesus for the joy set before Him endured the cross…”. Our Saviour had a goal set before Him…to bring salvation to all. Goals serve as a driving force to attaining greater heights.

Diligent Implementation: This is the hardwork, discipline and endurance we need to employ to make the set goal a reality. Jesus, for the goal set before Him had to endure the cross. Setting goals does not automatically guarantee success, but diligence. A person might after setting a goal need to go through some training to be equiped for exploits. They may also need to under-study some pioneers and tap from their rich expertise.

Patience: It is very essential for those who desire success to develop the virtue of patience. As we are aware, it takes time for a seed to germinate, grow, bud, flower and then bear fruit. Nothing great was achieved overnight. Success in life is a gradual process. Haste is not a good route to it. Those who rush through decisions omit several necessary details that should let them stand out. Haste also encourages shortcuts that can be very costly too.

Just begin to pray. The Lord is near to all those who call upon Him. Surrender all your plans, ambitions, hopes and aspirations to God for His guidance. He shall direct your path. Kindly click, watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/1rY0zpRd-ok
