THE LORD WILL PROVIDE

Today’s Devotion
Topic: THE LORD WILL PROVIDE!
Text: Gen 22: 13- 14

13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place “The LORD Will Provide”. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.” Amen

God told Abraham one day to go to the region of Moriah, to a mountain He (God) will show him, and sacrifice his only son there.

Now the bible does not really explain how Abraham received the news. We are told however in Gen 22: 3- 14, that early the next morning, Abraham set off with his son Isaac, and some servants. When they got close to the mountain ordained for the sacrifice, Abraham asked his servants to stay there.

He took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, while he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”

Abraham answered, “God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” (Gen 22: 8)

When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.

Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”

Abraham then looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. He called that place “The LORD Will Provide”.

Beloved in Christ, make all the effort this day to look beyond your needs and worries. Lift up your spirit to the point where you can absolutely believe that “THE LORD WILL PROVIDE”. Say it again with conviction: “The Lord Will Provide”.

May these words encourage you as you go through the day with school fees and utility bills to pay; an empty bank account even though Easter approaches fast. Believe this truth even though debt threatens to draw you and your family into shame and poverty. The Lord will provide, ok? He always does!

He created all things by word of mouth and continues to speak those things that are not as if they are. (Romans 4: 17). Trust in His ability to save and do not fret.

Call the family together right now and begin to pray. Be sure to cast all your cares and burdens upon Him; He cares for you. He will supply your needs according to His riches in glory.

You see, when the sky wouldn’t rain, ravens and a widow were commanded to feed Elijah till the rains returned. He provided water for Hagar and Ishmael in the desert of Paran where there was no hope. He is able to make a river flow in the desert and make a way where there is no way. IF HE IS THE LORD, THEN HE WILL SURELY PROVIDE!
