Topic: The Kernel Of Wheat Must Die!
Text: John 12: 27- 28a
27 “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name!” Amen
One day some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival came to Philip with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went to tell Andrew; and they went together to informed Jesus.
Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds (John 12: 20-24).
The Lord Jesus was at this point preparing the minds of His disciples regarding the need for Him to die. Now, He was like a kernel of wheat, only available to the house of Isreal. But when He dies, He will multiply and be useful for all, including gentiles like the Greeks who were requesting to see Him now.
All believers must note that most of the difficult experiences we go through are necessary for growth and multiplication. Like the grain of wheat, it is after it dies that a new life is birthed to produce several wheat grains.
In that same sermon, Jesus went on to say; “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” (John 12: 27-28)
Precious One, you see that we cannot continue to run away from certain challenges that are necessary for our growth. Jesus is even teaching that it is not even best to pray that we escape those situations, but rather, that His name of the Lord will be glorified.
Reflect on your life right now. Identify those challenging processes that are necessary for your growth (like examinations for students, marital challenges, pressures from work, ministry, etc). Ask God to glorify His name in all these and He will!
You see, our Father specializes in confusing the enemy. Just when they would jubilate over our “dying process”, then we spring forth; renewed and blessed, producing several grains to the Glory of the Father.
Do not quit or run anymore then, go through and multiply in grace, wisdom, favour, anointing, experience and blessings. It is for this reason you have come to this hour. God has already blessed those lonely moments and will bless them again. You can never miss the blessings hidden in your storm if you refuse to give up!
