Topic: The Gracious Hand of God
Text: Nehemiah 1:11; 2:8b
11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honouring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favourable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me. 2:8b And the king granted these requests, because the gracious hand of God was on me. Amen
The truth remains that many of us hope to make progress and climb higher in several endeavours in life. Qualification, physical appeal and abilities can get you up to a point in life beyond which you would require the outstretched gracious hand of God.
Nehemiah had served King Artaxerxes with wine for a while. When he heard of the deplorable state of his hometown Jerusalem, he was so saddened and he knew that something had to be done urgently about it. Yet how could he win favour with the king so that he could be allowed to return home (even with resources) to rebuild his city?
He knew that at this point neither his astounding track record, his skill at serving wine, nor his physical appeal could make a way for him. So he prayed that God would move the king’s heart. (Nehemiah 2:4-11) And God did! Hallelujah! The king gave him more than he had requested for.
Beloved, it’s time to engage the gracious hand of God. His hand will move things in your favour and grant you phenomenal results in your finances, academics, relationship, career and ministry. It’s 28 days into the new year. You can accomplish a lot with God’s gracious hand upon you. Begin to pray now.
