The Delight Of The Lord!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: The Delight Of The Lord!
Text: Psalm 147: 5-6, 8- 11.

5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit. 6 The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. 8 He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.

9 He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call. 10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior; 11 the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. AMEN

Dearly Beloved, the Lord is great all by Himself and does not require our authentication to remain absolute. His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse nor in the legs of the warrior. Rather His delight is in those who FEAR HIM.

The fear of God is to know Him in all His sovereignty, and because of that, submitting your entire being in humble adoration for His glory, honor and pleasure. It is to:

a. Shun evil (Pro 3: 7, Job 28: 28).
b. Obey Him (Eccl 12:13, 1 Sam 12: 14).
c. Attain wisdom (Prov 9: 10)
d. Attain wealth and honor (Pro 22:4).

“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,” (Deut 10:12).

He has told you, O man, what is good: THE LORD DELIGHTS IN THOSE WHO FEAR HIM. Meditate on this word therefore and begin to pray. Ask for a heart that can love God and because of that love, obey His commandments. A principle of jealous, godly fear within. A sensibility of sin, and the pain of feeling it near.

As for God, He will forever delight in those who fear Him. And “if the LORD is pleased with us, He will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.” (Numbers 14:8). Therefore let us continue to put our hopes in His unfailing love; to fear Him, and to keep His commandments. That is the whole duty of man!
