Topic: Sustaining Your Miracle
Text: John 5: 14
Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” Amen
One day Jesus was passing by the pool of Bethesda and learnt a man had been lying there sick for 38 years. He had compassion on the invalid and healed him.
Now since this particular day was a Sabbath, the healed man was summoned to explain his healing. He obviously didn’t have much to say because He barely knew Jesus.
However He did something remarkable. He remained in the temple until Jesus found Him again and taught Him how to sustain His miracle.
Two very important lessons we can learn from this:
i. Jesus finds the man at the temple even after he received his healing. Most of us will go every extent for a miracle. We will never miss a service. We fast and pray, give offerings and demonstrate love. We do all these until we get the miracle we desire. Then we vanish!
Having been away from home for 38yrs, this man could have rushed home and shown his healing to all but no, he stayed in the presence of God!
ii. Jesus found him and taught him a great lesson in life. We can almost imagine Him say to the man “See, you are well again, remain in my presence; stop sinning or something worse will come on you.”
Many of us not just move away from His presence after our miracle has come but we actually go back to the life of sin we were living before.
Jesus warns that something worse than we had suffered will come upon us if we continue in sin even after our deliverance. Meditate on this and pray. Seek divine wisdom to sustain every blessing God brings your way in Jesus Mighty name.
Amen!
