Small Beginnings

Today’s Devotion

Topic: Small Beginnings!

Text: Job 8: 5-7

But if you will seek God earnestly and plead with the Almighty, if you are pure and upright, even now he will rouse Himself on your behalf and restore you to your prosperous state. Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be. Amen.

Life is a process. A child is born and goes through necessary transformations before becoming an adult.

Every seed planted, has to first die, then under favourable conditions; germinate. With time, that small seemingly insignificant seed grows out to become a huge and useful plant capable of propagating itself.

Everything begins small in life. The source of every river seems small and insignificant. It flows gradually into a mighty water body before it eventually joins the sea.

This perfect world our Maker created started out small. Creating one thing at a time, each day, God used six days to perfect His creation. He did so to demonstrate to us how relevant patience and starting out small is.

You see, we have the God of possibilities as our Father. He is more than able to multiply the works of our hands and bring us increase. David says he had been young and was now old but had never seen the righteous forsaken nor his children begging for bread.

When it seems like you are lagging behind and that your beginning is actually too small and slow compared to that of others eventhough you work equally hard, don’t fret. God is taking His time to  train, prune and groom you for something greater and better.

Seek God earnestly and plead with the Almighty to bless the works of your hands. Be pure and upright. Be faithful with little things and God will bring the much you desire. For “whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much” (Luke 16:10a).

Your strength- HIS GRACE, your rule- HIS WORD, your beginning may be small BUT your end- is to THE GLORY OF THE LORD. Begin to pray now. “Small” is not the end of your story, it’s  just the beginning of greater things to come.
