Topic: Significant Events
Text: Luke 1:66
Everyone who heard about it reflected on these events and asked, “What will this child turn out to be?” For the hand of the Lord was surely upon him in a special way. Amen
When it was time for Elizabeth’s baby to be born, she gave birth to a son. And when her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had been very merciful to her, everyone rejoiced with her. When the baby was eight days old, they all came for the circumcision ceremony.
They wanted to name him Zechariah, after his father. But Elizabeth said, “No! His name is John!” “What?” they exclaimed. “There is no one in all your family by that name.” So they used gestures to ask the baby’s father what he wanted to name him.
He motioned for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s surprise he wrote, “His name is John.” Instantly Zechariah could speak again, and he began praising God. Awe fell upon the whole neighborhood, and the news of what had happened spread throughout the Judean hills. Everyone who heard about it reflected on these events and asked, “What will this child turn out to be?” For the hand of the Lord was surely upon him in a special way. (vv 57-66)
Indeed, these events were strange but very significant. How could it be that the events surrounding the birth of a single boy had filled the Judean hills with awe and a lot to reflect upon. These were undoubtedly events that bore witness to the fact that a very Supreme Being was involved — the hand of the Lord was surely upon the child in a special way.
A careful reflection on the events of your life would also surely show that God Almighty has been involved in one way or the other. Often, we are quick to dismiss the thought of God being the One behind certain events in our lives. Especially when those events are not ‘palatable’ to us. But the mere fact that you believe in and have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour should tell you that Almighty God will not sit unconcerned and watch just anything happen to you.
Remember, it is this same God and Father of ours who has said, “I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down! [Assuredly not!] (Hebrews 13:5 AMP)
Beloved, please take time to reflect on the many significant events which show that God has been involved in the totality of your life. Give Him praise as you ponder over these events in your heart.
Announcement: Beloved, we are only 4 days to 4Jband’s incredible “LAHAI CONCERT” which takes place at the ICGC ADONAI TEMPLE, WESTLANDS (NEAR- HAATSO VIDEO JUNCTION). 2pm on the dot.
Yesterday we prayed that God anointed each song we sing. Today, we praying God’s anointing over every minister and instrument of worship. That God will use us mightily for His glory. We are also soaking the entire band into the blood of the lamb, for purification and protection. Our Jesus must be glorified on that day!
