Topic: Satan has no hold on you.
Text John 14: 30-31
I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.“Come now; let us leave. Amen
Have you ever said that if not for this person or situation, i would have been much better than this? I believe quite a number of us have, for one reason or the other.
In this passage, Jesus could have made the devil an excuse why He will be unable to accomplish His purpose but He rather explained that Satan comes yet has no hold on Him.
Again, Jesus knew clearly that the devil comes either to prevent Him from advancing to Calvary for our salvation or make that journey an unbearable one. Yet, He chose to focus on the positive outcome of such a trial.
Knowing that after He has been through His trial, the world will now know He is truly of the Father and believe in Him.
He could have displayed His awesome power by defeating the devil without pain, but He came to the world in order to fulfil His purpose, which was to save the world from sin and bring glory to God by heeding His command, and He stuck to it!
Anytime the devil comes at you, and the times are unbearable, remain focused on your assignment and on the Lord whose you are. God will glorify you at the end of the day. THE DEVIL HAS NO HOLD OVER YOU!
Pray and ask God to show you what he has called you to do and for the grace to stay focused in fulfilling your purpose.
