Text: Mark 6: 38- 40, 42

38 “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five–and two fish.” 39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 42 They all ate and were satisfied. Amen

Many are the desires of man. As a matter of fact, we actually hunger and thirst after many things, both spiritual and physical on daily basis. This attitude is evident even in our walk with God. We find ourselves always petitioning Heaven for one thing or the other and yet never getting satisfied.

The truth be told, hunger and thirst put us in a very devastating position that creates anxiety, restlessness and impatience. In the passage above, we find the crowd that followed Jesus in a similar situation. However, their plight caught the attention of the Good Shepherd.

But you see, the Lord Jesus, knowing how impatient man can be when in need, still required of His disciples to organise the crowd into groups of hundreds and fifties. Here are the reasons why:

i. The people, though hungry and worn, had to understand that our Lord is not one “haphazard” God. He is very organised, disciplined and excellent at meeting our need the best way possible. He works systematically for the good of all.

ii. Secondly, God needed them organised to prevent wastage.

iii. Lastly, they had to sit in groups so that it will be easy to identify and appreciate any over flows, surplus or leftovers. That way, they will know how gernerous God has been to them and give glory to His name.

Brethren, there is always a period between your hunger or need and the time of its actual fulfillment; that is the time we petition God and trust Him as faithful to provide. This period is described as ‘THE PATIENCE PERIOD’.

We put our requests before God because we believe and know that there is no other provider and that is true. Yet often all He requires of us after prayer, is to relax and trust Him. Also, to go about everything He has taught and every assignment He has given us with all diligence, and then watch Him work another miracle for our sakes.

Therefore be anxious about nothing, just relax, give your best in all you do and put on your best smile knowing that Faithful is He who has promised us and He will do it!

Begin to pray now. Don’t just pray your problems away, also pray against your anxiety, restlessness, and impatience. For God does not slack on His promises as some consider slackness. He’s patiently working another miracle with overflowing effect. All eyes will see and given glory to His name.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, minister to us through this song as begin a new working week, in Jesus mighty name. Click: https://youtu.be/jIZhlXDMAYc
