Topic: Proper Time & Procedure
Text: Ecclesiastes 8: 5b- 6
5b The wise heart will know the proper time and procedure. 6 For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery. Amen
More often than not, the many cares of man can weigh so heavily on him that he becomes desperate for change. Honestly, in that state, he is tempted to do anything fair or foul just to break free and also achieve that which by his own standard represents a better position than where he finds himself.
This has led many into situations and complications that make them worse than their desperate situation was, because there is a proper time and procedure for every matter under the sun. We cannot choose to do whatever to achieve whatever without consequences.
Often, that “anything, fair or foul” we do, may only provide temporary relief for the individual, but leave dying consequences for his future. For instance, a young man drowning in poverty, may easily see fraud as the way out of misery till the law catches up with him. Why? Because there is a proper time and procedure to acquire wealth.
Jehovah created this world upon spiritual principles and eternal laws. Then on earth, he set natural laws in motion and gave man the ability to borrow from these existing laws an understanding of how things ought to be. So that by them, we generate acceptable guidelines to govern ourselves.
That is why the farmer who means business, will always look out for the proper time to sow, and in sowing, apply the proper procedure. That is exactly what any other person who wants to achieve anything great in life does, right? If so, why then are you not rejecting the temptation to skip proper time and procedure, just because misery knocks on your door?
Why are you rushing ahead of God and His proper time for your life because others seem to be ahead of you? Why do you always cut corners and get hooked unto ‘connections’ that promise gain without tilting, planting, watering, nurturing, pruning and even harvesting; Only consuming?
Meditate on this and begin to pray. Ask for grace to stick to God’s standard of proper timing and procedure. For this is “what the LORD your God requires: that you walk in obedience to Him, and keep His decrees and commands, His laws and regulations. Do this so that you may PROSPER in all YOU DO and WHEREVER you go.” (1 Kings 2: 3)
