Preferring God

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Preferring God
Text: Genesis 13: 14- 17

14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you”. Amen

Abram kept his word to Lot. He did not argue or quarrel with Lot over his decision. Lot packed out and pitched his tent near Sodom. Abram remained in Canaan till the Lord spoke to him.

You see, sometimes we brood over many things for nothing. We hold grudges against those we feel should have treated us right. It is much worse if they were inconsiderate and had their own interest while you looked out for the common good.

There is always the temptation to patiently await the day they come crawling to you for help, so you may revenge in grand style and give them a taste of how they made us feel earlier.

But beloved, by the help of the Holy Spirit, release such people from your heart and let them go. The Lord is your portion and your exceeding great reward. He is all you need not man.

Now, Lot had chosen by sight and established his dwelling near doom. Abram on the other hand decides to be led by God and he is not disappointed. God visits him with a blessing that surpasses all understanding.

All the lands to the north, south, east and west have been gifted to him and his descendants forever. He also receives the blessings of having descendants as numerous as dust. Then God gave him the mandate to walk the fields and possess the land by faith.

You see, in sharing, Abram chose God instead of land. Now he had more than land. Canaan didn’t seem as fertile as Sodom did in the physical, but it was a much better choice because GOD WAS WITH HIM.

Beloved, what we pick for ourselves may lead to death, but WHAT GOD GIFTS US WITH IS ALWAYS A BLESSING THAT LEADS TO ETERNAL LIFE. So step aside, and let God. Trust His every word and lean not on your own understanding.

Begin to pray now! “Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land. For I am giving it to you”, saith the Lord. Remember the Just shall live by faith and not by sight. Kindly click, watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/iUgO9TNlx5A
