Topic: Poor In Spirit
Text: Matthew 5: 3
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”. Amen
We often quantify the blessings of God only in material or monetary terms. In our minds, people with money, cars, power and fame are very blessed by God.
Not withstanding the possibility of the above, there is yet another kind of blessing that is not expressed in material wealth, rather it is in “being poor in spirit”.
That’s a sharp contrast, right? “How can being “poor” in anything be a blessing?”, you may wonder.
Well, One is said to be “poor in spirit” when he/she recognises his/her void without God and as such depends solely on HIM!
It is a rather humble acknowledgement that all we are and have is from the Lord. Hence our willingness to invite Him everyday into our every situation and then wait patiently on Him for provision.
In fulfilling His promise to reward all who diligently seek Him, God invariably rains all of heaven over such; making them rather abound in all things good and perfect.
As expected, these blessings received from God always surpass human comprehension and expectations. They stand the test of time and has eternal value. What else could be this better?
Begin to pray now. Hunger for God and His righteousness and not for anything the world offers. Seek His face regarding all things through prayer and bible study and be patient as you walk with Him and wait on Him to guide, when you can’t find your way.
He will be right there with you, through it all. His presence with you is enough to fill your every void yet make you crave for more and more of Him. And yes, He will fill you with more and more all over again till all of heaven is seen in and through you.
Won’t you rather “be poor in spirit” and be satisfied by God?
