Planted In His House

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Planted In His House
Text: Psalm 92: 1- 2, 10- 14

1 It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, 2 proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, 10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me. 11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.

12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13 planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, Amen

Here we are in the second half of the year. Ebenezer- The Lord has been so good to us. Here we are. Still smiling and singing even in the midst of all the struggle.

You see, the music may not be perfect, but, that it is coming from a grateful heart can not be mistaken. The notes, pitches and tune may also be flawed by our lack of professional training. BUT THAT THE SOUND RESONATING, IS OUR PUREST ADORATION TO THE GOD WE LOVE, CAN NOT BE OVER EMPHASIZED.

We don’t even know how God has sailed us through these trying economic times. Things are getting tighter every day, yet we grow tougher and stronger. Our faith being steadfast and our contentment, a fact. This must be the Finger of God keeping us!

He has exalted our horns and poured fine oils over us. He has defeated all our adversaries and granted us peace in the middle of the storm.

What’s more? He assures us this morning that those of us who choose to remain in His righteousness will flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar of Lebanon planted in His house. They will still bear fruit in old age and remain fresh and green. Wow.

You see, the palm tree is strong and useful in every way. Its roots, trunk, branches, fruit, kernel and husk provide several benefits to man, animal, bird and insect.

And so is the cedar of Lebanon. It was the most dependable choice of timber for all types of construction throughout biblical times. Standing tall and firm, it beams kept structures like Solomon’s temple and palace perfect, strong and intact.

To be like these two “nature greats” planted in the house of the Lord is an incredible blessing. Both tress can withstand very harsh climatic conditions and remain fresh all year round. Precious One, we can only flourish and flourish in the days to come no matter what the economist say. Essential commodities may be scares but WE shall never lack any good thing!

Again, being like palm and cedar tress planted in the house of the Lord, implies we remaining perpetually in His presence. Proclaiming His love in the morning and His faithfulness at night. Connected to Him as our source, we will not leave our post to chase after the world or other gods.

Neither, will we run out of His house when we meet obstacles in fellowship or challenges in our line of service. Rather, we will avail ourselves to be used as vessels of honour to make His praise – glorious, His everlasting love – known and felt, His word- shared, His fellowship- perfect, and His house- a house of prayer.

Dearly beloved, in a time when all things are fading away, and quickly too; where else would you rather be planted than in the house of the Lord? David said “better is one day in your courts than a thousand else where” (Psalm 84: 10).

See you at church- remember to bring all the load with you. Jesus will give you rest! Also bring your heart and song for “it is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High” ( Psalm 92: 1). Click: https://youtu.be/WP1VT4e0uVM
