Our God Laughs

Today’s Devotion

Topic: Our God Laughs

Text: Psalm 2: 4 & 5
4 But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then in anger He rebukes them, terrifying them with His fierce fury. Amen
Indeed, “if anyone is in Christ Jesus, he is a new creation. Behold the old is gone and the new has come” (2Corin. 5:17). Interestingly, not only has the old life gone for the new to come; there’s a whole new spiritual divide from the moment one chooses to be on Christ’s side. He/she becomes a true friend of God and an undeniable enemy of the devil.
From that moment on, the devil musters more physical and spiritual forces to fight against the new creation in order to frustrate his/her walk with the Almighty God. When this happens, our God laughs!
“Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against His anointed one. “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.” But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. Then in anger He rebukes them, terrifying them with His fierce fury.” (Psalm 2:1-5)
He laughs at the mere plan of the devil against His children; because He knows that no weapon formed against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from Him. (Isaiah 54:17)
‘This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sakes I will send an army against Babylon, forcing the Babylonians to flee in those ships they are so proud of. I am the Lord, your Holy One, Israel’s Creator and King. I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea. I called forth the mighty army of Egypt with all its chariots and horses. I drew them beneath the waves, and they drowned, their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick. But forget all that — it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”‘ (Isaiah 42:15-19)
Beloved, do not waste your time worrying about and being frightened by the devil’s schemes against you! Why should you be worried or frightened when your Heavenly Father is laughing at the one who frightens you? Get up from the ashes and begin to pray. Declare that ‘greater is He who lives in you than he who is in the world’ (1John 4:4). ‘If God is for us, who can ever be against us?’ (Romans 8:31)
