Today’s Devotion
Topic: Our Daily Bread
Text: Matthew 6: 11
Give us this day our daily bread. Amen
Forget about greed for now. Let us focus on mere hunger. Critically considering a few thoughts, man works that tirelessly all the days of his life just to be able to afford food, primarily.
Many have had to lie, cheat, steal or compromise on a Christian or moral value to be able to afford food and other human needs, such as clothing and shelter.
One day, Jesus’ disciples went to Him and asked to be taught how to pray. Jesus replied; “This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.” (Matt. 6:9-11).
Jesus acknowledges that we as believers, have pressing needs and agrees that, it is even okay to ask for food or our needs before asking for protection from temptations that lead us into sin.
Why then do we not pray to our Father in heaven about our needs each morning before we step into the day? Especially when we are aware of the fact it is the prayer that brings the increase? Why do we miss this important all time truth and chase the wind in vain?
See, we have another day today. Jesus says “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! (Mat 7:11). Begin to pray now. Ask your Father in heaven to provide all your needs, especially DAILY BREAD for you and your loved ones.
