John the Baptist was a dynamic preacher. Like Elijah, His sermons confronted those in authority and convicted several others unto repentance. King Herod couldn’t stand John’s bravery because he was the only one who could openly rebuke him of sin.
The teachers of the law often questioned if he (John) was the Messiah. John repeatedly answered “no! after me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Beloved, John only paved the way for the One, MORE POWERFUL THAN HE TO BE REVEALED. He John was not the light but was sent by God to bear true witness to the Light that was to come.
Jesus, being far more superior to John is actually: God revealed in flesh. He is the Light that shines away our darkness and the darkness can not comprehend it. Even in the manger; angels, shepherds, wise men glorified Him as Worthy to receive adoration.
He came to His own but His own received Him not. However, as many that RECEIVED Him, them He gave the power to become the sons of God. Children born not by the will of man but God Himself.
So you see why we should not celebrate “Christ…mas” without the “Christ”. Honestly, the eating, dancing, music and merry making only enhances our social relations with one another and adds little or nothing to our spirituality. To meditate on God’s reason and plan for sending His Son to save us whiles we were yet sinners and ofcourse, our ability to receive Him into our hearts is what Christmas is all about.
Begin to pray therefore. Open up your heart and receive God’s Special gift to you this season: HIS NAME IS JESUS!
HE WILL BAPTIZE WITH THE HOLY GHOST AND FIRE! Your life will never be the same again.
