Today’s Devotion
Topic: Neither Good Nor Harmful.
Text: Jeremiah 10: 2 & 5b (NLT).
‘This is what the Lord says: “Do not act like the other nations who try to read their future in the stars. Do not be afraid of their predictions, even though other nations are terrified by them… Do not be afraid of such gods, for they can neither harm you nor do you any good.’ Amen.
Most of us would strongly disagree that we could ever receive any good thing from evil spirits. But the same lot of us would easily tremble at the mere thought of being under attack from evil spirits.
Most Christians believe that though evil spirits can bring us no good, they have tremendous power to cause the abortion of our destinies. At the mere mention of witches, dwarfs, demons, principalities and powers, we instantly feel cursed and destroyed.
Today’s Scripture points out that we ought to have a change of mentality: these evil doers can neither bring us good nor do us any harm.
In Jeremiah 1:19, the Almighty God says emphatically that, “they will fight you, but they will never prevail against you.” We are not to be ignorant of the devil’s devices. Instead, we are to take a stand against him in the power of our Lord.
Beloved, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Stop concentrating on the negatives of your circumstances and pay attention to what God has said and is doing. Stop asking, “What if the devil does this or that?” and stand in the strength of the Lord knowing that no evil shall ever prevail against you.
Begin to pray against that “fear of evil” stronghold in your mind. Take authority in the name of Jesus; pursue and recover every blessing stolen from you due to fear. For greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
