Today’s Devotion
Topic: Man’s Time Vrs God’s Time!
Text: Psalm 90: 2, 4
2 Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. 4 A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. Amen
No one group of people can claim monopoly over time. Even the Gregorian calendar we widely use now, has undergone several transformations. Different tribes, states and nations have different methods for calculating time and measuring it’s cycle. The same is true for GOD’S TIME and MAN’S TIME.
Man’s time is determined by his observation and study of the cosmos, and also, his understanding of how the world is formed, and the relationship between that and the natural occurrences he has experienced with time. However, God is the sole determinant of His own time. He is the beginning of all things (Alpha), everything in between; and the end thereof (Omega).
He created light for day and darkness for night, but darkness is like light to Him (Ps 139: 12). He changes the times and seasons; deposes kings and raises up others. (Dan 2: 21). A thousand years in His sight is like a day that has just gone by, and a day is like a thousand years (2 Pet 3: 8).
He is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. As a matter of fact, those who find themselves in His time always testify that HIS TIME IS THE BEST. Everything is made beautiful in His time.
Why should you be guilty of distrusting God because you allowed man to compare your life against his time and disqualify you as being late? Too late for marriage; Too late for promotion; Too late for child birth; Too late for a degree; Too late for life? IT IS GOD WHO DECIDES WHO IS LATE, NOT MAN!
Think about this and rise up in prayer. Pray about everything that appears too late to you according to man’s time. Delay is not denial. Remember “anyone who is among the living has hope — even a live dog is better off than a dead lion” (Eccl 9: 4).
Nothing is ever late for those of us living in Christ; “for the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens towards the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, IT WILL NOT DELAY!” (Hab 2: 3, NASB).
