Topic: Lord! I Want To See!
Text: Luke 18: 42
42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Amen
As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to Him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.
Beloved, sight is the act or fact of seeing, while vision is the state of being able to see. The latter also stands for the ability to think or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.
Vision and sight are so important to every individual; both the ability to see one’s current circumstance and the ability to plan into one’s future. And this is one area where most of us are found wanting.
Many of us are deluded from our real current circumstance. We imagine ourselves being something other that we are not. It shows in our attitude towards God and life. We fail to asses our today in the light of God’s word; always acting like we own our lives, the world and even time. We feel on top of the world of fashion, music and lust when we must not even conform to the patterns of this world in the first place. We fail to see that no condition remains the same, and that only the word of God abides forever. This is blindness.
Others lack the ability to visualize and plan for a better future with Christ. They waste the resources of today like there is no tommorow. This is blindness too. Many, also look so down on themselves that they cannot see how God can turn their situation around for good tommorow. It is yet another form of blindness.
The next time you get a chance to talk to Jesus, tell Him you want to see. Yes, you want to see Him more clearly; to understand through His word why He’s allowed you to go through your current situation and also to see through the eyes of faith what bright future He has in store for you.
Like the blind man in the passage, refuse to beat about the bush when He ask you what you want. Also refuse the intimidation from the crowd till you receive your healing you desire. None other can heal this disease but Him.
As a matter of fact, once you get to SEE CLEARLY, every other thing surrounding you will make sense, and guess what; the crowd will stop frustrating your access to God because you can see Him for yourself and follow Him more closely.
Meditate on this Word and talk to Jesus right now if you are desperate for sight. He’s actually passing right by your side. Pray till you hear His sweet voice tell you “receive your sight, your faith has healed you!” Once you do, arise and sing AMAZING GRACE. You have your sight restored! Never again to be blind; never again to be in darkness!
