Topic: Let Your Light Shine!
Text: Matthew 5: 14 -16
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Amen
Whenever we experience a power outage, the young and old alike let out sighs of desperation and almost everything comes to a standstill, especially for those who do not have alternative power supply. Immediately the power is back, we can tell from the relieved cheers of people.
It is so with the life of a Christian. The moment we accept Christ as Lord and personal Saviour, we take on His identity; and as the light of the world, His light radiates through us so that all who dwell in darkness might see the fullness of His love and be attracted to it!
Why then do we deny others the privilege of seeing the light by allowing timidity, doubt, fears, complacency and the cares of this world to take pre-eminence in our lives? We have so much to offer as children of the Most High.
The good Lord has placed in us wonderful gifts for His glory. He has not placed in us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. What else are we waiting for before we allow Him to shine through us?
Even to crown it all, we have been blessed with the Holy Spirit both for guidance and protection. With Him leading, we never get astray. Do you remember how the name “Christian” came about in Acts 11:26? The disciples carried on the legacy of Christ and the people of Antioch could not help but describe them as such.
How will you be described today? Is your lamp going to burn bright for all to see, or will it remain out of view?
The Lord wishes to use you for His glory. Don’t you agree it’s time to let your light shine? Begin to pray now. Break away from every covenant with darkness. Ask the blood of Jesus to wash you anew with His light shining through you for His glory.
And may this light, bring hope to the many who in this dark and dreadful world, cannot seem to find their way. May it also brighten your path unto eternity as it guides others to the Jesus who is your source. _”Arise and shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you” (Is 60:1)._
